Trump Is ‘Working Nonstop,’ White House Claims—As He Keeps Low Profile In D.C. This Weekend
Trump has maintained a low profile in recent days and has not made a public appearance since Wednesday, when he visited the Supreme Court as it heard a birthright citizenship case and he delivered a primetime address to the nation on the war with Iran that night.
The president is expected to remain in Washington, D.C. this weekend instead of traveling to his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida as he often does, and the White House called a lid shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, meaning Trump is unlikely to make any appearances today.
He has not made a public appearance since Iranian forces shot down an American fighter jet on Friday, after which both U.S. and Iranian forces launched a search for a missing American pilot, which continues as of Saturday afternoon.
Trump has remained largely silent about the missing American pilot, only addressing the situation in a brief interview with NBC News on Friday, declining to discuss specifics of the search while claiming the incident would not impact peace talks with Iran.
Trump has kept a low profile as a deadline he set for Iran to make a deal or open the Strait of Hormuz approaches—he warned Iran in a post on Truth Social early Saturday it has 48 hours to comply, otherwise “all Hell will reign down on them.”
Trump’s apparent absence from the limelight in recent days sparked some speculation on social media about the president’s whereabouts, though Cheung appeared to push back in a post on X Saturday afternoon, saying Trump “has been working nonstop in the White House and Oval Office” over the Easter weekend.”
